The gear we use
My Main Camera
- Canon 760D. I use my Canon DSLR both for the bulk of our video work and also to grab great stills of the kids and our adventures. There are smaller, hipper, cheaper, fancier, trickier cameras out there but I still think you can’t beat the slightly old fashioned but tried and true concept of a good Canon(replace with your preferred flavour) DSLR if you want quality photography/videography.
Small Cameras
- A Go Pro Hero 4. Because the rules say you can’t be making You tube sailing videos without a Go Pro!
- A Nikon Coolpix W100. This thing is cheap, waterproof and tough! It has survived diving, snorkelling, sailing, swimming, surfing and family adventuring around Australia and South East Asia. It is mostly the kids camera, they can point it and shoot with a simple basic interface without too many complicated settings to worry about. It takes HD video albeit no not images that are going to blow anyone away. But for a camera the kids can use to capture with it is fantastic.
